| How it all started……
We first were introduced to alpacas at a local country
fair we attended when we lived in Ottawa. Ken was posted there as
a Chief in the Navy and Robbie operated a Communications and Marketing
company. We were instantly enraptured by these gentle and unusual
looking animals with such soft, thick fibre. The owner answered
all our questions and invited us to contact him for a tour so we
could see more animals and learn more about them.
From that moment on we knew what we would do as our
retirement project and started researching everything we could find
about alpacas on the internet. We were fortunate to attend an alpaca
seminar north of Toronto which added to our knowledge and desire
to become owners. We started visiting alpaca farms in Ontario (which
weren’t plentiful in 2000) and in 2001 purchased our first
two animals – Gracie and
Amaryllis. We boarded them at the farm they were purchased from
and continued to research more and spend time with them and the
other alpacas at the farm.
In 2003 we moved to Kelowna and were thrilled when
our alpacas arrived safely that fall with 3 new cria. We have continued
to search for the best possible genetics in breeding as we grew
our herd. We love to share our animals and experience and knowledge
about them with others.
We offer tours and information sessions and ask that you call us
to let us know when you will be coming. Telephone: 250-707-0927.
All of our animals are halter trained, walk well on a lead, and
show well.
In addition we have products for sale including: socks, sweaters, gloves, mittens, scarves, felt shoe and boot insoles, and skeins for knitting along with alpaca duvets, pillows, mattress pads and dust protectors. We have 3 wonderful knitters who love working with the alpaca fibre and are able to provide a unique, ultra warm, custom garment for you.
